About the event

TE MOKAI — PROTEST & LOVE SONGS

This is not a reunion tour.

It is a family coming home.

Te Mokai were a band of brothers and relatives whose songs carried the weight of protest, land marches, love, and lived Māori experience in Aotearoa during the late 1980s and early 1990s. After more than four decades apart, they reunite for one intimate evening to share their stories—and the songs that shaped them.

Set like a family lounge on stage, Protest & Love Songs invites the audience into a private space.

Stories told, memories surface, laughter breaks through, and songs shared naturally—protest anthems born from resistance, love songs shaped by whānau, and music that held them together.
