About the event
WAIRUATANGA AND MENTAL HEALTH
A Two-Day Wānanga for Mental Health Professionals 18–19 September 2025 | Te Aranui, Kaiti Hub, Gisborne
Join us for a unique, transformative learning experience that bridges the worlds of wairuatanga and clinical mental health.
Designed specifically for psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and other mental health clinicians, this wānanga offers practical insight into the role of wairua (spirituality) and its application in modern clinical practice.
Facilitated by:
Wiremu NiaNia – Tohunga, cultural therapist, teacher, and healer affiliated with Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, and Ngāti Kahungunu. Wiremu serves as a tohunga at Turuki Health Care in Auckland and co-facilitates wānanga across Aotearoa with his wife Lesley.
